We are collecting single-serve portions of non-perishable fruits and single-serve “main dishes” requiring minimal preparation (mac-n- cheese/pasta cups, etc.) to include in weekend food kits for AW students at risk for hunger. (Please, no perishable items. We have plenty of chips, cookies, etc.) Please place donations in the storage container near the door in our parking lot, and then contact us to let us know it’s there (so we can make sure it goes to students and not to critters!).
New, beginning Tues., 6/7! Bible Study is moving to Body and Soul Tuesdays! On the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, we will meet for Bible Study from 2:30 – 3:30. The Food Pantry will be open from 4-6 p.m. Food Pantry volunteers and customers are invited to participate. (Participation in Bible Study is not required to use the Food Pantry.) Pantry customers can pick up their groceries immediately following the meeting.
Our first study will be about the Lord’s Prayer. Most if us know it. Lots of us pray it. But do we really understand what we’re saying and praying? Adam Hamilton’s video series will be our springboard for discussion, led by Pastor Carol.
Community Vacation Bible School, 6/20-23, 9 a.m. – noon. Vacation Bible School is set for June 20-23 from 9 a.m. to noon at Hope UMC, with a movie night on 6/24. VBS is free and open to potty-trained 3-year-olds through students who have completed 4th grade. The theme is “How to Train Your Emotions.” God shows us how to tame our emotional “dragons” so we can have joy and peace in the midst of them. VBS is a cooperative effort between Zion UMC, Hope UMC, and Community of Christ ELCA and will be held at Hope UMC. Registration information will be posted here when it becomes available.
The VProject Interfaith Summit on the COVID Vaccine, originally livestreamed on Tues., 2/16, can be viewed here.
